I contain I expressA workshop for dancers (amateurs and professionals)
with Katerina Zigka, Body Psychotherapist
21.22.23 of June – fee by contribution
21st: 19:00 – 21:00, 22nd & 23rd: 10:00 – 15:00
I dance my internal rhythm. I breathe in. I breathe out. I live with my breath.
Do I contain my emotions or do I repress them? Do I express them or unload them? Do I dance with movements which come from my emotions or with movements which confine them?
I contain my emotion, I acknowledge it. It fits in my body, as a receptacle, it can take it. I can express it where I want, in the way I want, achieving the result I want.
We need to rediscover the shape of our body that allows us to create and release movements driven by our true emotions, from our internal core – not from an enforced way of forming movement.
The aim of this workshop is to make contact with the emotions that our body carries, to recognize them and to express ourselves with pulsating rhythm free from our blockages.
Our work will be based mainly on Biosynthesis through body work and meditative practices. Our aim is to coordinate the feeling with the movement which communicates it, and to revive the vital rhythm of our breath. We want dance to transfer emotions, but emotions that are our own.
Katerina Zigka completed her studies at the University of Hull, UK with a BSc Psychology & a MSc Work and Organisational Psychology.
