Somatic Play
Mardi 12 Novembre 2024, 08:00pm - 09:30pm

Ενσώματο ΠαιχνίδιSomatic Play is an embodied approach that combines a variety of techniques and systems with a focus on exploring the mind-body connection.

The aim of the course is to get in touch with Oneself and the Other, to acknowledge and welcome physical sensations into a dynamic field of expression and play, with care and acceptance.
A specific structure is followed and various tools are utilized depending on the themes explored. Practices such as yoga, movement improvisation, breathing techniques, mindfulness, sensory games, guided visualization and relaxation are included.
On departure the participants take with them inspirational inputs and playful tools for managing daily life and personal development.
More specifically, the structure of the course consists of 3 spaces-parts :

" The Threshold"
Arrival , warm up, preparation.
How do I arrive at class? What information do I bring, what information do I really need and what do I choose to keep?

" The Room "
Movement and pause, imagination and breath, research and expression through the body.
Here, we create the "main space" of embodied inquiry and practice.

"The Exit"
Absorption and continuity.
Embodied reflection and nourishment. Time for relaxation and smooth transition.

The course is addressed to adults of all ages and regardless of previous experience. It is suggested that you bring socks and a notebook/pen for personal notes. Please inform in case of existing injuries or any other condition.

μαριονMarion is a founding member of the Social Cooperative "Embodhiment Collective," a dancer and performer, yoga teacher, and Thai Yoga Massage (TYM) therapist. She is also a graduate of the Department of Biotechnology at the Agricultural University of Athens.

She studied contemporary and classical dance, graduating from the Professional Dance School of Rallou Manou in 2012 (Greece). She furthered her studies in choreography and improvisation at Scenario Pubblico / Compagnia Zappalà Danza in Sicily. Her approach to movement, physical expression, and poetry has been influenced by Physical Theater, Partnering and Instant Composition, through her studies and research with prominent dancers from Ultima Vez Company, Julien Hamilton, and Maya Carroll.

A series of intense physical injuries led her to discover yoga, unveiling a new practice integral to the care of both the physical and energetic body and fostering coexistence with oneself and others. This journey catalyzed a nourishing path of self-development, transforming obstacles and limitations into opportunities for growth and learning. In 2015, she became a certified 200-hour Yoga Teacher in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Gentle Yoga (Swaha Yoga Center, Greece).
She subsequently specialized in Prenatal & Postnatal / Mom and Baby Yoga, Yin Yoga, Aerial Unnata Yoga, Arm Balances, Tantric Philosophy & Chakras, Yoga Therapeutics for Musculoskeletal Disorders and traditional Kaula Tantra Yoga (300 hours) in India. Concurrently, she served as a co-teacher for five years in yoga teacher training programs with Tanya Popovich at the Shri Gaia Institute (Yoga Teacher Trainer). Her fascination with community and facilitation led her to complete a two-year experiential training program in Facilitation (Greece), equipping her with tools and insights into group dynamics and emotional management within community settings.

Marion has been practicing the art of TYM since 2010, continually enriching her therapeutic repertoire in Athens, Brussels, and Thailand. Her additional training includes Dynamic Thai Yoga Massage, Thai Oil Massage, Tantric Massage, Tok Sen Technique, Aerial Massage, Neuromuscular Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, and Breathwork.
Her research on neuroscience and the relationship between stress, behavioral patterns, psychosomatic symptoms and trauma culminated in a successful thesis on Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBI) for stress-related disorders and epigenetics. She completed the "Stress Management & Health" training program at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and continues to participate in conferences and experiential activities on these topics worldwide.

Marion’s life is deeply intertwined with exploring the potential and capabilities of the human body and mind. She integrates the therapeutic aspects of yoga philosophy and practice, arts, somatic practices, meditation and mindfulness into daily life. She leads numerous classes and workshops focused on non-typical education for all ages and backgrounds, emphasizing play and exploration as essential components in building a conscious relationship with both the individual and collective body.
